Yarrow is a regenerative force that relieves pain for the wounded warrior and healer, tending to both physical and energetic wounds. Its Spanish name ‘Plumajillo’ means the little feather that heals. Its Latin name Millefoilum translates as a thousand leaves. Long associated as an herb for the battlefield (and thus being named after the warrior Achilles), it has a rich history of use as a vulnerary, or a plant that stimulates healing of wounds, even those that “cut to the bone”.

 

This styptic has blood-regulating properties that stop bleeding, and tightens the skin while lessening scarring due to its astringency. Antibacterial, antiparasitic properties lend purifying power ~ fighting infection while cleansing the blood. It is a protector of the immune system, our body’s boundary system. Found to help reduce spasms, lower blood pressure, reduce fever and inflammation, and promote digestion, menstruation, and sweating.

Safety:

Avoid Yarrow while pregnant, as it has emmenagogue properties that stimulate blood flow. Avoid if hypersensitive to any member of the Asteraceae family (such as Ragweed, Sunflowers, etc).
